The built in piano sound is taken from the 9ft Yamaha CFX concert grand which has a rich bass and clear high end which works beautifully for all styles of music. The CFX sound also has key-off and damper resonance which recreates the harmonics of strings resonating in harmony whilst the key-off creates the changes in sound as key is released like on a real piano and the damper is re-applied. Combined with the graded hammer action system, you get a genuine piano experience from a very compact instrument. There are a total of 10 voice on-board such as organ and strings etc. as well to layer and perform with.

The Fun Way To Learn To Play

The YDP-144 will link directly with the Yamaha Smart Pianist App. The free app acts as an interface for the piano allowing you to choose sounds and adjust effects all ont he screen of your compatible smart device. The app also has score display capabilities and 50 well known classical pieces. The app will scroll along the score as the backing plays allowing you to play along with your selected sound and learn to read score or even improve if you can already read music. It will aid with timing skills as well, keeping up with pieces and playing the right notes at the right time. If you want to simply perform with your favourite music then the app can analyze music you have in your devices music library and work out the chords. It will then scroll along the chords on the screen as the song plays so you can perform too! You can even change key or tempo of the song if you so wish. Play As a Duet

There is a great feature on the piano called duo mode. This mode virtually splits the piano into two halves, both halves with a middle C. You can then sit next to your playing partner and perform duets all on one piano.
