The band Periphery has become a force to be reckoned with in the progressive metal scene thanks to their complex rhythms and soaring melodies. Guitarist Mark Holcomb helps achieve this full, lethal sound with his PRS guitars and signature Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega pickups. PRS and Holcomb have worked closely together to develop a truly unique guitar for the SE Series lineup.
"With my SE signature model, we managed to capture all of the defining characteristics of my Maryland-made guitar and turn it into a streamlined, less-costly package. It is an incredibly special instrument, and one that is the primary focus of my rig in the studio and onstage." - Mark Holcomb, Periphery
Satin Finish Neck - Improved Feel
The SE Mark Holcomb model truly stands on its own in the PRS lineup and delivers addictive play-ability thanks to some unique specifications, including a 24-fret, 25.5" scale length wide thin satin maple neck with 20" radius ebony fretboard.
The satin finish neck offers improved grip especially on stage when your hands start sweating and you need to keep control of you hand position. Satin also offers a softer feel on the hand and reduces stickiness on the back of the neck so the neck tends to play faster.
Seymour Duncan Alpha And Omega Pickups
Mark Holcomb's signature pickups provide the right amount of output and articulation whether you're playing sophisticated chords or solos and whether you're playing alone or working in the mix of a band. The pickups are Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega pickups.
The Omega bridge pickup was created to provide destructive percussion and growl in the mids and low end. It's aggressive but it also has lots of clarity and brightness, which cuts through whether you're playing sophisticated chords, complex single-note lines or intense solos.
The Alpha neck pickup is unlike most traditional neck models. It was voiced to combine the best qualities of a neck and a bridge pickup, with some of that fat glassy sound but also plenty of your pick attack and fretting-hand phrasing.
3 Way Blade Switch With Coil Tap
Make use of the powerful Seymour pickups with the 3-way blade pickup switch and push/pull tone knob for coil splitting. This configuration offers a huge pallet of tonal versatility with the guitar. Whether you want to thrash out a heavy lead through to a clean rhythmic passage the guitar will deliver everything you need.
Other specifications include a quilted maple veneer and black chrome hardware for incredible looks and a fantastic tone.
