Mapex Versatus 14" x 6.5" Russ Miller Signature Snare Overview

The Mapex Versatus 14'' x 6.5'' Russ Miller Signature Snare is constructed from a 7-ply, 8.55mm maple and mahogany shell, providing exceptional durability and a tone that leads the mix. Maple offers further projection while offering a wider tuning range and more attack to the sound. The mahogany builds on this, providing a fat tone that sounds exceptional when tuned low. The Versatus is also fitted with a 4-ply maple sound reinforcement ring on the top of the snare drum to provide cutting rimshots.

With a great balance of power and finesse, the Versatus possesses sensitivity for bushes, articulation for light sticking, and control for big back beats. The lugs are staggered across the shell to provide an extremely wide tuning range, allowing you to find the perfect tone in any style.

SONIClear Bearing Edges

Mapex's unique bearing edge technology ensures better contact between drum head and shell. This increased head-to-shell contact improves shell vibration and allows for greater resonance, as well as easier tuning. The sonic nuances of your snare strikes and rolls will sound better than ever.

Sonic Saver hoops

An exclusive Black Panther component, Mapex's Sonic Saver counterhoops further focus the snare's overall sound with their unique profile - also reducing wear and tear on sticks while dramatically enhancing its response.

The Sonic Saver hoops also offer increased durability whilst providing an enhanced response and feel of every rimshot. The hoops also have significantly decreased weight, perfect for achieving a natural percussive sound with much greater resonance.

The Mapex Black Panther Versatus features an all-new cylinder-drive strainer which uses a self-lubricating bearing to ensure smooth operation, while providing precise control of the snare tension. Extra venting helps dry the resonance of the drum and effects the ''feel'' due to air release.

With Remo drumheads for a sharp and accurate response, the Black Panther Snare is ideal for a range of drumming styles and genres. A nice touch is that you get Russ' personal choice of snare wires and drum head fitted as standard so it's like you took the snare out of the hands of the man himself!
