Automatic accompaniment "Styles" provide an entire backing band you as you play the keyboard. Styles

The Korg EK50 comes with more than 280 preset built in styles, these cover a mass of musical genres so whether you are wanting to play a smooth bossanova or even modern rock songs the EK50 has something to suit everyone. You can play these backing styles in a variety of ways, for beginners you have the single finger mode which allows you to control a full band by just playing 1 note in your left hand. This mode can also be switched to a full chord mode, so as you progress you can play full chords with your left hand giving you much better control over which notes the backing band play and which they don't. Having both of these style modes allows the EK-50 to grow with you as you progress on your keyboard learning journey. Another great feature within the Style Section of this keyboard is the STS (single Touch Setting) Mode, this mode pairs up your styles and voices to give you the best recommended voice and style pairing to get you playing straight away. The EK-50 has also been left open ended meaning you have the ability to add up to an additional 96 styles via a USB flash drive which will be available for download from Korg in the very near future meaning if there isn't a suitable style available at the time you can check on the Korg website to see if their is a downloadable option available for you.

Voices

The EK-50 comes loaded straight out of the box with more than 700 realistic preset voices including instruments such as pianos, violin, sax, drum kits and many more. Whether you are playing on your own with the built in styles or with a band, their is a voice in here to suit whatever your needs may be. These voices can be layered on top of each other to allow for a nice blend of two instruments meaning you can play piano with stings or a pad behind it to allow for warm room filling sounds all at the touch of a button. You also have the option to split your voices in ways such as an acoustic bass in the left hand guitar in the right allowing for the stripped down small band sound all from one instrument.

Display & Navigation

The Korg EK-50 comes with a centralised bright clear LED lit display which gives you all of the information you need such as the currently selected style, selected voice, chord reader, tempo, and even a keyboard display showing which keys are currently being pressed. The text is extremely clear and visible at a size which is convenient for everyone to be able to read with ease. The buttons such as set list, play/stop and variations are all independently lit with their own LED lights to clearly show you exactly what is selected and currently switched on. The keyboard also has a Grand Piano button which brings you straight back to just a plain piano voice as if it has just switched on, this is a fantastic feature as if you are ever stuck on your keyboard or on a setting you aren't happy with you can press this button and instantly be back to a plain and simple piano voice.

Convenience & Portability

The Keyboard comes with powerful 10W x 10W stereo speakers which provide more than enough power for home use and practice, you can also connect external devices such as phones or tablets through the input jack to utilise these speakers. Weighing in at only 7.5kg the EK-50 is extremely light and portable making any transportation extremely easy and convenient. The EK-50 also has the option to run on AA batteries for up to approx 5 hours on full power. The battery ability makes it a great choice for on the move musicians who want something to take on the road with them to practice anywhere or even for anyone looking to busk without their own power source.
