The Kawai K3 is a highly regarded acoustic upright piano with an outstanding richness of tone and clarity. With deluxe features such as Kawais Millenium III Carbon-fibre action derived from the top of the range Kawai grand pianos, a Solid Spruce soundboard unique at this level, an elegant Polished Ebony cabinet with a slow-fall keycover to protect the finish (and fingers!), and of course, the sound that Kawais are famous for - rich, warm tones with superb depth and body.

In a slightly larger cabinet than the K2 model, the K3 offers a fuller sound, with better access to the higher and lower range frequencies. The larger front soundboard is constructed from Solid Spruce, the real wood resonating better for improved projection. Most other brands of piano at this level will be using laminate woods for their soundboards, which do not provide quite as good a quality of sound.

The K Series upright pianos offer a level of tone quality and performance that rivals many grand pianos. With sturdy construction for years of reliable service, the K Series models are excellent for auditoriums, schools and other institutional settings.

Most Kawai Grand Pianos now feature the Millennium III Action. This Action has been well accepted, as you can see from Kawais success in many of the International Piano Competitions throughout the world.

The Millennium III Action features components made of ABS-Carbon, a new composite material created by the infusion of carbon into their existing ABS Styran. ABS-Carbon is incredibly sturdy and rigid, which allowed Kawai to make the action parts lighter without sacrificing strength. The lighter design makes the Millennium III Action tremendously fast and effortless for the player. The repetition and responsiveness are superb.

Every exacting detail of the action on the Kawai K3 has been exhaustively analysed to meet the stringent demands of the skilled pianist. One prime example of this effort was the addition of a microscopic surface texture on the jack at the point where it meets the hammer. The result of this subtle but important change is a dramatic increase in control during pianissimo playing.

To bring out more elegance to the K3 a new design has been made. Wood is used to bring out the extra shine to the pianos. Also new shapes for the edges and many more construction details have been changed compared to the previous models.
