The FG9 is Yamaha's flagship steel-string acoustic guitar. Featuring solid Adirondack spruce tops and either Indian rosewood or mahogany bodies, FG9 delivers the outstanding projection characteristic of dreadnought-style instruments while at the same time providing exceptional clarity and detailed articulation. This unique combination of penetrating projection and extraordinary clarity distinguishes the FG9 from all other instruments in its class.

High Quality Construction

The new FG9 models feature Adirondack spruce top boards with tapered edges, providing structural strength while also allowing the body to vibrate more efficiently a combination that contributes to both power and sensitivity. Joined to the body, the neck has a new structural design that combines bolt-on and glued construction to increase body vibration and improve maintainability. Neck and body joints are finished and adjusted with high precision. It is cut to the rounded V-shape which is easy to grip and its durable semi-gloss polyurethane coating gives smooth hand movement and a comfortable feel. The precision-engineered wood body is coated with a thin nitrocellulose lacquer that does not interfere with vibrations, allowing the true sound of the instrument to be heard. The African Mahogany back and sides provide a crystal clear mid-range punch specifically designed for singer songwriters.
