Suitable for advanced players as well as beginners, the new Graded Hammer action is weighted to match the resistance of the hammers in a grand piano. Its a great solid feel as you would expext on a real piano. Synthetic Ivory Keytops give the porous, tactile feel that you would expect from an acoustic piano manufacturer like Yamaha, and this makes such a difference in how the instrument feels to you as you play it, its surface absorbs finger moisture allowing serious pianists to play comfortably for longer periods of time.
Yamaha YDP162 digital piano - How good is the sound ?
PureCF Sound Engine starts with a meticulous recording of Yamahas acclaimed concert grand piano. This recording contains a number of dynamic levels from pianissimo to fortissimo so you can experience the delicate sound of a soft touch or the pure power of two-handed chords. Yamaha have develop this sampling method on the more expensicve CLP models and we saw a marked improvment in demand because of this richer warmer, more accurate tone. Yamaha have brought this technology to the YDP-162 and YDP-142 models. The YDP162 has considerably more expression that the YDP-142 and a greater amount of RAM is allocated to the piano sound.
The YDP162s cabinet is slightly taller than some models which creates a more substantial upright piano look and delivers a richer tone.

The Acoustic Optimizer is a new, unique Yamaha technology. Using a special design and position within the instrument, the Acoustic Optimizer physically adjusts the acoustic flow of sound which controls resonances and enriches the overall tone. The combination of Acoustic Optimizer and digital the overall tone. The combination of Acoustic Optimizer and digital technologies provides an incredibly expressive capability.
