A New Standard Of Live sound

Hybrid Technology for a Modern Sound

Using the same innovative technology that Yamaha Have employed in their flagship Line of drums the PHX series as well as the Yamaha Absolute Maple Hybrid series, the Live custom Hybrid Oak Drum shells are constructed from a blend of oak Wood and a central ply of phenolic acrylic.

The Oak and Phenolic Blend help to create a drum tone which benefits from the oak wood by being characterized as having soft high's, a strong mid range and a very warm low end which makes for an already very versatile drum. The addition of the Phenolic helps to bring out more of the warmth of the oak across all the frequencies to ensure powerful attack and presence. These two materials together help to produce a sound that is dynamic across all playing styles and it also produces the cutting attack which is needed for live performance.

All the shells are finished with a 45 degree bearing edge which helps to add to the already impressive attack and articulation of this beautiful drum set. The combination of the Oak, Phenolic and the 45 degree bearing edge helps create a kit that is full of warm low end power and quick, sharp articulation which ensures that you have all the tools necessary to be able to have the very best on stage drum sound.

Powerful Bass Frequencies

As well as the Impressive tone of the toms, the Bass drum of the Live custom Hybrid oak has been outfitted with a unique bass enhancement weight system which ensure that you get a punchy kick drum filled with low end and warmth. The bass enhancement weights were designed with Yamaha's absolute lugs in mind this means as well as improving the sound of the bass drum they also fit with the aesthetic of the whole drum kit. The Bass drum weights are studded to the bass drum at the lug points and help to accentuate the low-mid frequencies. The end result of the tiny bass drum weights is a bass drum that sounds huge and is still very punchy ensuring powerful projection in a live setting.

Yamaha's YESS III Mounts

The Yamaha YESS II mount has be around for a while now so it was only natural that it would evolve into the very popular YESS III tom mount, these mounts further help with the natural resonance of the Toms. Rather than drilling into the side of the drum which negatively affects to overall sound and tone of the drum the YESS III mounts attach to the tom via the hardware on the outside avoiding contact with the drum shell. This means that the drum shell is able to vibrate more freely which allows for the drums natural sustain and tone to be able to be heard allowing for a much more tone filled tom sound.

Traditional Japanese Finish

This kit is presented in a stunning charcoal sunburst finish which as you can see features a grey central band which gradually fades to black as you get further to the outside of the drum.

The finishing process of any drum kit is very important, the beautiful aesthetic of drums is one of the things that draws in their users among many other things but regardless of if a drum kit sounds good or not if the looks aren't up to par then you wont be tempted to spend your hard earned cash with your local music shop.

Thankfully this is not the case with the Yamaha Live custom Hybrid oak drum kit. These Kits have been finished beautifully in a tradition Japanese way named Uzukuri, The finishing process involves sanding of the soft parts of the wood grain before a layer of black paint is applied to the whole shell, once the black paint has soaked into the wood it is sanded down again to leave all the paint left in the wood grain before a final finishing coat is applied. This process perfectly captures the natural beauty of the oak shells while making a striking impression on the eye which helps to perfectly capture the underlying tone of these drums.

Live custom Hybrid Oak Hardware

All of Yamaha's Live Custom Hybrid Oak shell packs are fitted with Yamaha's exclusive absolute lug system which help to bring an amount of calm sophistication to this drum kit. To Perfectly complement The striking finish of the shells all of the hardware is finished in a very classy looking dark silver finish. The inside of the drums is also finished in black to help further the aesthetic of this drum kit.

The Bass Drum of the Yamaha Live custom Hybrid Oak comes complete with Die-cast Bass hooks to ensure noise free function with the addition of insertion plates. Providing a strong and stable hold of the bass drum hoop to ensure that it doesn't go out of tune, the die-cast hooks are fitted with insertion plates to protect the hoop of the drum whilst ensuring noise isolatioin between the Bass drum hook and hoop.

Each of the Yamaha Live custom Hybrid Oak drum kits is fitted with 2.3mm dyna hoops and remo drum heads. The heavy dyna hoops helps to provide a more focused sound and a sharper responce from the drums which makes the idea for any live performance, while the remo clear emperor batter heads and the ambassador resonant heads helps to produce a deep sound and unmatched durability. The bass drum is fitted with a remo Powerstroke 3 Ebony batter head and Logo Printed resonant head.
