Construction
Shape:The Grand Auditorium is the most versatile and popular of Taylor's guitar shapes. Its well-defined midrange contributes to a clear and balanced tone. It's responsive enough for fingerstyle players and powerful enough for pickers and strummers to get a lively response. Think of it as a jack of all trades.
Top Wood:Solid Sitka Spruce is the most commonly used wood for guitar tops, Sitka generates a broad dynamic range and accommodates numerous playing styles, from aggressive strumming to fingerpicking.
Back & Sides:Taylor's layered Koa backs and sides incorporate three layers of wood, featuring a middle core of poplar with a veneer on each side. While layered woods won't produce quite as complex a sound as solid woods, they allow us to blend exotic looks with climate-resilient construction.
Electronics
The Built in ES-T pickup system which is a single-source, under-saddle transducer features individual elements for each string, an onboard preamp, and the same active controls as the full ES. It's powered by a 9-volt battery, with a battery life LED power indicator. A Phase switch for feedback control is located on the preamp board inside the sound hole.
