Body: The Tanglewood Elegance TW45's top is made from Solid Spruce which gives a bright and resonant sound, while adding rich harmonics. The backs and sides are made from Mahogany giving that dark, deep colour tone. Most striking though is the back, which features a 3 piece Mahogany and quilted Ash triangular design, the body of the guitar is all finished in gloss, giving a smart appearance.
Neck: The Tanglewood Sundance Pro's neck is made from the African Mahogany with a satin finish. It's really easy to move up and down the neck due to the extremely smooth satin finish. Changing between chords quickly and licks on this guitar is not a problem. The fingerboard is made from Rosewood and has 20 frets which are marked by tiny white position markers. The nut width here is 43mm and the factory set action means the strings sit at around 3mm above the fingerboard across all 6 strings at the 12th fret, more than playable for an acoustic guitar. Access to the higher frets is good due to the cutaway body design of the Tanglewood Sundance Elegance TW45EG E.
Hardware & Pre-amp: The bridge on the Tanglewood Sundance TW45EGE is made from Rosewood and has the classic white with black dot bridge pins. The spacing between the strings (E-e) at the bridge is 53mm. The electronic side of this guitar is the Fishman Sonitone pickup / preamp system which brings this Tanglewood electro alive when plugged in. There are not many controls on the preamp system, simply rotaries for volume and tone to help you shape your sound and to make it the ideal guitar for live gigging.
