    Excerpts from the History of Martin Guitars

    The founder of C.F. Martin & Co. was born January 31, 1796 in Mark Neukirchen, Saxony, Germany. Apprenticed to the famous Austrian Guitar maker Christian Friedrich Martin aged 15 soon became foreman in the Stauffer workshops In 1833 C.F. Martin set up his own Guitar workshop in New York. After moving to Nazereth Pennsylvania Christian Frederick Martin is credited with being the inventor of 'X' bracing.

    In 1928 the first Martin dreadnought is adapted from the Ochestral Model with 14 frets and steel strung

    In the fifties and sixties after the difficult times during the war many famous stars used Martin guitars including Elvis Presley originally with a D-18 and later a D-28

Lancaster, Morecambe, Wigan, Burnley, Ormskirk, Bolton, Leigh, Accrington are also near me. Manchester Liverpool and Cumbria are around an hour away.
