Catalyst 2.0 Firmware - What's New

The free Catalyst 2.0 firmware update for Catalyst amplifiers introduces six additional Amp Voicings, for a total of 12. There are also 24 effects spanning four effects categories, and single effects from any two of those categories can now be used simultaneously. All models were derived from the flagship Helix® amp and effects processor.

6 amps in one cabinet

The Line 6 Catalyst range features 6 brand new amplifier models designed from the ground up by line 6. Unlike most current modelling amps these aren't copies of traditional valve amps and instead are their own unique sound and feel whilst still having the known characteristics you get from valve amps of all eras. The amp models range from crystal clear cleans to high gain and everything in between. Each amp model has its own boost uniquely tailored to the individual model rather than a generic boost for all the amps. These amp models are controlled by a Gain, bass, middle, and treble controls just as it would be on your traditional amp.

Top Quality Effects

The effects built into the Catalyst may be familiar for some, all being taken from the Helix Processor these are studio quality effects. You have 18 different effects to choose from (six types each of Modulation, Delay, and Pitch effects). As well as these you also have 6 different types of Reverb which can easily be adjusted or changed from the knob and switch on top of the amp.

USB Connectivity

The Catalyst range is also USB ready with the ability to connect to the Catalyst Edit software. From this software you can edit, backup, restore, and manage your Amp Voicing's, which include your amp knob settings and much more! All from your computer or iOS/ Android device. the amplifier also has a built in USB Audio interface with 4 channels (4in/4out) at 24-bit, 44.1/48kHz. This allows you to record straight from your amp to your computer with ease and even in silence with headphones connected.

On the stage or in your room

The Catalyst amp range has been specifically designed to be extremely versatile and suit a massive range of guitar players. The amps have a built in power attenuator meaning you can play at full power, half power and even at 0.5w for ultra low bedroom practice volumes. The Amps also come with a dedicated power amp in for use with your favourite amp modeller such as the helix or HX series of pedals, turning the amp into a powered cabinet. The two button foot switch which is sold separately also allowed you to switch between the two different amp channels and switch effects on and off which can be programmed in the Catalyst edit software.
