The transducers in the 210C represent a revolutionary improvement in bass speaker technology and a major leap forward, fusing paper and aluminum in a roadworthy speaker design that is more robust and efficient than anything available.

With Hartkes HyDrive series, you get the best of both worlds: the warm tone of traditional paper cones and the clear, punchy attack of aluminum. HyDrives patented Hybrid Cone Technology produces a speaker that uses an outside paper cone to push a warm, deep low frequency and an inner aluminum cone that produces mids and highs that cut, yet still remain sweet.

One of the most important advances with the HyDrive speaker is its power-to-weight ratio. A HyDrive speaker weighs 40% less than traditional speakers and delivers 250 watts for the highest power-to-weight ratio of any bass speaker available. But the innovation runs even deeper. Because of its cast aluminum frame and neodymium magnets, HyDrive speakers operate cooler and deliver more reliable power handling at peak performance.

During the development of the new HyDrive combos, all of the crucial aspects that go into designing an exceptional bass combo were intensely considered by both HyDrive engineers and professional bass virtuoso Stu Hamm. Of course you need enough power to ensure youre heard amidst a band in live performance applications, not to mention the importance of roadworthy durability to guarantee your amp can withstand the trials of heavy gigging. Combine these two factors with advanced tone-shaping capabilities and seamless performance and you have the HyDrive 210c bass combo.

The 210c houses 2 x 10-inch 150 watt HyDrive neodymium hybrid cone drivers and offers 250 watts of clean linear power. A massive toroidial transformer and internal protection circuitry help protect the amplifier and speaker, allowing the 210c the ability to handle virtually any passive or active bass with plenty of power.

The concentration on designing a durable bass combo cannot be understated. We wanted to be sure that the 210c would stand up to a heavy regiment of touring and playing, so we used only the highest quality plywood, extensive bracing and dado joinery. We also used vinyl covering, a steel grill and steel corners to be certain you have the best protection when youre on the road. The 210c also features the original Kickback™ design, allowing for better projection in live performance situations. As a result, this combo is not only resilient, but also aesthetically gripping, providing a visual stage presence that is contemporary yet elegantly classic.

The ability to completely sculpt your sound is greatly enhanced by Hartke Shape Control and Bass Attack Overdrive. Also, 7-band EQ plus bass and treble shelving give you an assortment of options with regards to shaping your tone to meet any standard of bass playing in any genre of music. This combination of revolutionary engineering and innovative design results in the most versatile bass combo on the market.

The Hartke Hydrive 210C 250 Watt Bass Combo Amplifier Guided Tour:

      Hartke Hydrive 210C Front Panel

      • 1. Input (1/4-inch Jack) - Connect your bass guitar to this standard 1/4" unbalanced jack. This Hydrive Combo Input has been designed to handle the signals from just about any bass with either passive pickups or with hotter pickups if your bass has active electronics (that is, if it has a battery).
      • 3. CompressIon (control knob) - This control determines the amount of compression (peak signal reduction) by simultaneously adjusting both threshold and compression ratio (which ranges from 2:1 to infinity [limiting]). At the fully counterclockwise "Zero" position, the circuitry is bypassed and no compression is applied. As the knob is raised clockwise (at settings from "1" to "10"), increasing amounts of compression are applied.
      • 4. CompressIon LED - The LED provides a visual indicator of the status of the compression circuitry. When the LED is off (for example, when the Limiter knob [see #3 above] is set to "Zero"), no compression is being applied. When flashing, compression is being applied to the incoming signal at a ratio of approximately 2:1. When steadily blue, the compression ratio is approaching infinity (limiting is being applied to peak signals). This LED "follows" the incoming signal, changing continuously as different amounts of compression and/or limiting are being applied.
      • 5. Frequency (control knob)- This control knob is used to set the center cut frequency for the Shape circuit. The Shape control adds a pre-set equalization curve with a slight lift in the low frequencies, a cut in the mids and then a slight lift again in the highs depending on its setting.
      • 6. SHAPE (switch) - This switch is used to engage the Hartke Shape circuit which adds a pre-set equalization curve with a slight lift in the low frequencies, a cut in the mids and then a slight lift again in the highs. For additional control on stage, the SHAPE switch can be controlled using a Hartke FS2 footswitch.
      • 7. Harmonics (control knob) - When the Bass Attack Overdrive switch is ON, the control knob adjusts the amount of overdrive distortion.
      • 8. Brite (control knob) - This knob set the amount of high frequency tone control used to drive the harmonics in the Bass Attack Overdrive. The control is active when the Bass Attack Overdrive switch is ON.
      • 9. mix (control knob) - When the Bass Attack Overdrive switch is ON, the control knob is used to blend the dry and over driven signal. When set all the way to the left, the signal is 100 percent dry. When set to all the way to the right, the signal is 100 percent through the overdrive effect. When using the overdrive effect, a good place to start is right in the middle.
      • 10. on- (switch) - A backlit push switch used to turn on the Bass Attack Overdrive effect. For additional control on stage, the Bass Attack Overdrive ON switch can be controlled using a Hartke FS2 footswitch.
      • 11. GrapHIC equaLIzer - These sliders allow you to "draw" the tonal response of the system by adding 12 dB of boost or attenuation to ten different narrow-band frequency areas (30 Hz, 80 Hz, 160 Hz, 315 Hz, 630 Hz, 1.25 kHz, 2.5 kHz, and 5 kHz). When a slider is at its center detented ("0") position, the selected frequency area is unaffected (it is said to be flat). When a slider is moved up (above the "0" position, towards the "+12" position), the selected frequency area is boosted, and when it is moved down (below the "0" position, towards the "-12" position), the selected frequency area is attenuated. For more information, see the "Using Equalization" section on page 14 in this manual.
      • 12. Bass (control knob) - This control provides approximately 15 db of cut or boost at 100 Hz, with a peak (bell) curve. When the knob is at the 12 o'clock ("0") position, there is no boost or attenuation (that is, flat response). As it is turned clockwise from the "0" position, the frequency area is boosted; as it is turned counterclockwise from the "0" position, the frequency area is attenuated. For more information, see the "Using Equalization" section on page 14 in this manual.
      • 13.treBLe (control knob) - This peaking control provides approximately 15 db of cut or boost at 8 kHz.
      • 14. power (switch) - Use this to power the Hydrive Combos on or off. When powered on, an LED inside this switch is lit.
