    Yamaha MOXF Hands-On Controls

Hand On Controls For Live Performance

The MOXF8 has a plethora of hands on controls for live performance and work in the studio. The rotary encoders allow great access to many parameters instantly. Eq's, resonance and cutoff, arpeggio controls, effects, ADSR and more can all be instantly controlled at the twist of a knob.

On the right panel of the MOXF8 are the control buttons. When using performance it is possible to easily change and control which sounds are in use, have arpeggios assigned and which parts you are applying editing to with the simple touch of a button. The performance mode controls are one of the most effective live and studio tools to make use of whether building up sounds, or switching parts and playing live, they will really make your performance faster, simpler and more effective.

Yamaha MOXF8 - Perform Live and In The Studio

The MOXF8 has different modes of operation to suit the users requirements. The Performance Mode allows the player to create a full sound with multiple arpeggiated solo parts like playing with a band but offering the user all the control. Each of the 4 parts can be assigned an independent arpeggiator pattern with thousands of pattern choices so it is possible to create splits and layers and play along with arpeggiated drum and bass patterns with ease. This makes a great way to create rich layers of sounds or settings for live performance.

    Yamaha MOXF Includes Cubase AI

Yamaha MOXF8 DAW Integration and Built-in Sequencer

A built-in 16 track sequencer allows users to record and compose directly without the need for external devices. The sequencer is very easy to use and offers different modes of operation for live recording and step recording. One of the most powerful areas is the Pattern Recorder - this section allows users to record segments of a song of up to 16 parts. Each pattern has different segments or variations so another idea or bridge or chorus can be made in another segment of the pattern and then the patterns can be linked together in realtime or chained in step sequence. The result is an incredibly versatile creative platform for song creation and live performance with the ability to switch between segments at the touch of a button.

With a single USB cable the MOXF8 becomes a USB 2in/2Out USB Audio Interface and controller. Cubase AI7 is included free of charge with the instrument and opens up a whole world of recording and creative possibilities. There are free editors available for controlling all the sounds and parts of the MOXF from the computer. The MOXF can even control cubase with its master keyboard functions that can be assigned to an array of buttons on the keyboard including full transport control. The software editor is capable of creating sounds from the ground up as well as giving full access to effects, mixing and more. With the clever synth engine and the combination of computer software the sound capabilities are limitless.

    ipad/ iPhone connectivity

With the release of the latest V1.10 firmware upgrade, the MOXF range can be linked in to a compatible iPad or iPhone device using the Class Compliant technologies. Users will require the use of an Apple lightening to USB camera adaptor for connecting to the USB of the MOXF and to use its capabilities*.

Once you are connected then the latest free Yamaha apps can be downloaded for interaction with the MOXF8. Apps include the superb Performance Editor Essential which is a key app for use in performance mode. This particular app will allow users instant access to lists or arpeggiators used on each of the 4 voice parts of a performance, access to the sounds used, split positioning and even an X-Y pad for controlling the overall sound for he performance. Other apps include - Keyboard Arp And Drum Pad and Faders & XY Pad. The later offer the ability to assign controllers to different MIDI CC commands for controlling sound and parts in realtime.

    Yamaha iPad app displays

    * The confirmed operability is for version 7 or later, and is limited to iPhone5s, iPhone5c, iPad mini retina display models (A1489, A1490, A1491), iPad Air (A1474, A1475, A1476), and 4th generation iPad (A1458, A1459, A1460).

    Yamaha MOXF8 Professional Quality Sound

The Motif XF is the flagship Yamaha workstation with incredible high definition sounds used throughout the music industry. Yamaha have used the exact same sound processor in the MOXF8 workstation making it compete with models of a much higher price bracket. Special attention has been paid to the piano voices which match perfectly with the high quality piano feel of the keys. A 9-ft CFIIIS and a 7-ft S6 grand piano have been meticulously sampled and re-created for an astounding piano experience. Of course all genres of sounds from E.Pianos to drums, synths, orchestral and more are all of incredible quality.

With so many sounds to hand Yamaha brought in the Category search feature. With the touch of a single button you can instantly sect any category of instrumentation and view all of the sounds that match that category. This make sound selection incredibly fast and intuitive. Want a split or a layered sound? No problems with the dedicated split and layer buttons. Similar to the category button, a single press on the layer or split button will instantly bring up all the sound categories to choose your required sound and the MOXF8 will do there splitting or layering of the sounds for you. You can even add drums just as easily and have the arpeggiator play the drum patterns back to jam along with.

    Yamaha MOXF Flash Expansion Slot

Yamaha MOXF8 Expandable Sounds/ Sample Playback

Expand your sound set with specially selected samples and sound sets using the optional 1Gb flash card expansion. All the Motif XF libraries will work straight away with the MOXF8 so your instrument sound choices can be dramatically increased straight away. The flash card requires no loading time so there is no wait for sound to load in on boot up like many competing models. Simply turn the MOXF8 on, wait for it to start as per normal then get full access to your entire sound library. The MOXF8 can also load any of your own samples for triggering from the keyboard or for use within a song.
