When I learnt to play it was hard, Nowadays every
thing is so easy and Fun !!! who said bring back the good old days ?
I started in this business in 1989, My parents were selling it and Id
always wanted to play. I thought heres my chance Ill have to learn. Whilst we
were going through the long process of how and when I would buy the business I
would learn to play keyboard, so I borrowed a Yamaha PSR31 (£299) from
the business, Complete Keyboard Player Book I and started. I thought that
keyboard was brilliant, all 16 rhythms and 12 sounds, the flute sounded like
the organ , the organ like the electric piano and the electric piano sounded
like an electric piano. I thought the drums were fantastic, I definitely
couldnt do better with the communal dustbins outside my house. After 4 months
of this it was suggested I get a better instrument. The Technics KN500
(£799), fanatastic, luxury over the PSR31, how could they improve ? well
they did and the home computers came along, technology went mad and all the
time electronic musical instruments just got better and better. As I have
slowly improved Ive noticed these differences more and I want more, I want the
instrument to be an extension of my feelings as well as my thoughts, Modern
electronic keyboards and digital pianos are so much better because they have
expression, theyre angry when I want them to be and quiet when I want them to
be. Its the expression in our voice that gives away what we are feeling rather
than just the words. At last computer technology has brought about digital
instruments that can talk to us and convey our feelings. What a wonderful world
we live in !
