Heavy Rockin' Guitar!
Originally offered in 1961 as an alternative to the heavy Les Paul model. The SG has enjoyed fame and success over the decades much like it's older sibling.
Its mahogany body lacks the maple top of the Les Paul (and thus the weight) which means that it's actually slightly easier for beginners to feel in control of this instrument, the Les Paul can be quite intimidating because of it's enormously powerful highs whereas the SG is a little more mellow and understated.
Standard Gibson trademarks of a mahogany neck, Rosewood fretboard, trapeizoid inlays, stop-bar tail piece and 3 a side tuning peg arrangement make this guitar a work of art in it's own right.
The 490R and 490T pickups are voiced simalar to the classic '57 pickups, but have a slightly boosted mid range to compensate for the lack of treble mentioned earlier.
Available in a choice of either: Heritage Cherry (pictured), Ebony or Natural Burst and includes a Gibson hardshell case!
