The Fender VG Stratocaster is a combined effort between Fender and Roland to produce a workable, great sounding modeling guitar.
The VG Strat starts life as a Standard American Strat, a comfortably weighted Alder body, one-piece maple neck with customary choice of Fret Board and two different finishes; black and three-colour-sunburst. Pickups are the much loved American Alnico Standards connected to a five way switch.
Roland's additions to this guitar come in the form of a fourth pickup discreetly located at the bridge of the instrument. It is at this particular pickup that the magic begins. This pickup works in a different way to the Standard Alnico pickups, and because of this two extra guitars have been added to the mix.
"The Mode Control Knob governs five distinct modeling modes: Normal, Modeled Stratocaster, Telecaster, Humbucking pickups, and Acoustic. In "Normal" mode the guitar's three single-coil pickups bypass the VG circuit for a straight stratocaster sound.
The Tuning Function knob lets guitarists choose from five alternate tunings (Normal, Drop D, Open G, D Modal, Baritone) and a 12 string sound.Since guitarists won't have to turn a single tuning key, a major benifit of all these instant tuning changes is that the string tension remains the same and the guitar itself feels the same.
Even better, delivers level, balanced tone and volume across all of these remarkable functions. So that guitarists needn't continually readjust amp settings with each change in guitar sound."
